Field Adjuster Equipment: Cougar Paws

Alright, let’s talk about Cougar Paws.

These strong boots have padding on the bottom that, while it feels like fabric, gives great grip on different surfaces. They come with a Velcro system that makes putting them on and taking them off easy and efficient. This is really helpful when you’re moving around on roofs, keeping you safe and secure.

The boots have protective guards on the sole to make them last longer. These are super important when you walk on concrete or other hard surfaces. By using these guards, you protect the boots and keep the sponge-like material from getting wet. This is key for outdoor use, especially if you’re going from outside to inside a house. The guards also prevent leaving marks or imprints that could come from a wet sponge.

Here’s a story that shows why these guards matter. An adjuster didn’t realize they had red clay on their Cougar Paws and left footprints on a homeowner’s driveway. The claim got denied, the driveway needed cleaning, and the homeowner was upset.

So, these guards are a preventive measure. They keep both interiors and exteriors clean where you walk. If you don’t have non-slip shoes, these guards are a great alternative. In some cases, you can wear them until you get to a ladder and take them off before climbing onto the roof for dry, secure footing.

You can also get replacement pads with Velcro on the bottom. These new pads are made of a sponge-like material and help you grip the roof better.

Stay tuned for my next video. I’ll introduce the ridge hopper, similar to Cougar Paws. It adds extra safety on roofs. I might show you how to use it, so don’t miss out. See you next time!
