Let’s talk about the digital measuring tape I brought up in our last video.
This tool is a game-changer. Just point it at a wall – picture this as the wall – position the device, it sends a laser across, and there you have it: an instant measurement!
It’s a huge time-saver over traditional tape measures and drawing out dimensions manually, especially in big rooms. My own tape measure is 25ft, but this digital one reaches as far as you need indoors. It’s not great for outdoor use, though, due to the lighting.
Using it is super easy. Just turn it on, place it against the wall, and press the measure button. You get your measurement quickly. Like today, I got 58 feet from here to that wood structure.
This tool really speeds up roof sketching, making it both quicker and easier. I highly recommend it. It’s priced around $70 to $100. There are larger versions for outdoor measurements, but they can be pricey, up to $1,000. Those might be more suitable as you advance in your career. For now, this one works great and is available on Amazon.
