Field Adjuster Equipment: Pitch Hopper

Alright, let’s clear up a mix-up from the last video. The tool we’re talking about is called a Pitch Hopper, not a Ridge Hopper. While you don’t need to remember every name in the field, knowing the basics is essential. Now, let’s dive into the Pitch Hopper.

It’s a foam pad, similar to what you’d find in couch cushions. Roofers started using these sponges, and adding a pitch to the design turned it into a successful product. This foam pad gives you a comfortable, slip-resistant seat on the roof.

Getting used to the Pitch Hopper can take some time, especially on steeper slopes like 12 or 14 pitches. But it works well, even on tough 14-16 pitches. Your movement is restricted, but placing a few Pitch Hoppers around can help you move around more safely.

It’s not just for sitting, though. On steep roofs, you can use it like a walking cane. Hold it at an angle, step carefully, and it helps you stay stable. Pair it with Cougar Paws, a tool belt, and a clipboard; you’ve got everything you need for adequate roof inspections.

Next up, I’ll talk about using ropes and the Ridge Pro. Unlike the Pitch Hopper, I’m sure about this name. We’ll examine how these tools help you safely get up and down roofs. Stay tuned for more field adjuster tips and tricks!
